The Castle Inn is one the oldest pubs in the area dating back to the 17th century. The Inn was built in 1620 where it started life as a wooden structure. It was rebuilt many times until the early 1900s and now stands as a brick structure as it is today. It is believed that the cellar still has tunnels running to the church and the creek which were used by smugglers, to smuggle Tea, Silk & Brandy, but have been since blocked in. Up to 4 traditional cask ales are served and are forever changing with a selection of which are brewed within 2 miles of the pub itself at the local brewery Georges/Hopmonster and home cooked food is very much at the forefront of the business. Carefully prepared home cooked food is available all day using locally sourced fresh ingredients. A Family-Friendly village pub, it has a childrens play area outside in the beer garden where you can relax whilst the little ones play in a safe environment. All in all The Castle Inn is a place steeped in history where you will receive a warm welcome from the friendly team that will make you want to visit again & again. Pub is very dog friendly and even has a separate menu for your 4 legged friends!
