Beer Scoring/WhatPub
CAMRA's WhatPub website includes details of all the pubs in our area. It is updated and maintained, free of charge, by CAMRA members.
If you're a CAMRA member, you can log in to WhatPub and submit scores for the real ales that you try. These scores form an important part of the selection process for inclusion in the next CAMRA Good Beer Guide.
Scoring can be done on your smartphone/laptop/desktop. It is best to score while your are in the pub, but can be done at anytime by changing the date of visit.
To get started, visit WhatPub and login using your usual CAMRA login. If you have never logged in before, you will need your membership number. You can use the "Forgotten Password" option to get a new password.
Once logged in you can search for a pub directly, or by many criteria such as place name, postcode, station etc. To view a pub, just click on the name from you search results. If you notice any errors within the pubs entry, do let us know by clicking the Submit Updates link at the bottom of the WhatPub page.
You can score either the visit to the pub or the individual beer by using the submit beer score button. A scoring guide is listed below.
0. No cask ale available.
1. Poor
Beer that is anything from barely drinkable to drinkable with considerable resentment.
2. Average
Competently kept, drinkable pint but doesn't inspire in any way, not worth moving to another pub but you drink the beer without really noticing.
3. Good
Good beer in good form. You may cancel plans to move to the next pub. You want to stay for another pint and may seek out the beer again.
4. Very Good
Excellent beer in excellent condition.
5. Perfect
Probably the best you are ever likely to find. A seasoned drinker will award this score very rarely.
